Title: A Discussion of Sustainability in Fashion Shows

A collection of fashion show organisers gather to discuss sustainability. The talk will touch on the reality of sustainability, its affordability and transparency in fashion. Each panelist has a key role in determining the sustainability of St Andrews fashion shows.

An interview with Matteo Ward, CEO and co-founder of WRÅD. 

After years working in the fashion industry Matteo created a movement for ethical sustainable fashion. Since its founding in 2015 WRÅD has become a globally recognised sustainable brand. 

Matteo will be discussing his industry experience, the future of sustainable style, and fashion innovation.

Ganni Love Forever Show

Earlier this month, Danish-based fashion brand Ganni released their rental-only collection at Copenhagen fashion week. Creative director Ditte Reffstrup focused on reusing and reworking garments from previous collections and emulated the iconic style of musicians from the 80s and 90s like Madonna and David Bowie. The entirely virtual release culminated in a live musical performance on February fourth.

Bags: Inside Out at the V&A

Building on the legacy of Lizzo’s Valentino micro bag, this exhibit explores the history of handbags and luggage. The showcase is sponsored by Mulberry and features concept bags from Louis Vuitton, Birkin and Fendi. Some bags are deconstructed to explain their creation processes and some are materpieces of detailed craft. Tickets are £12 for non-members and free for members.

Celine SS 2021 Ready-to-Wear Show

Hedi Slimane’s Summer collections for 2021 are the epitome of “youth, optimism, (and) hope in this uncertain time”. The second part of Celine’s SS21 shows takes place in the Stade Louis II in Monaco. It is a covid-safe show unlike any other. Slimane reimagines the French Gen Z image with baseball caps, bucket hats, shorts, and ‘80s style blousons.

Prada: Tools of Memory 2020 Sotheby’s Auction

For the first time, Prada has partnered with Sotheby’s auction house to raise money for UNESCO. The auction features fashion collectibles from their AW20 Mens and Womenswear collections. Buyers will no doubt be drawn to bid on these pieces of fashion history which include Miuccia Prada’s final Prada collections without a co-desinger.

Moschino’s SS21 Ready-to-Wear show defies convention without COVID strings attatched. Jeremy Scott uses the marionette concept to showcase a haute coture inspired collection which compromises on size not detail. 2020 may have driven people to lockdown-fits, but Scott is determined that in 2021 we will be dressing up everyday.
